Are you a writer who uses music regularly in your creative process? Do you have one or several project playlists for each of your stories? Is your writing published and available for people to enjoy?
If so, it sounds like you might be a good fit to guest on The Write Song.
Formats of writing we’d love to talk about:
- Novels
- Short stories, novellas, novellettes
- Games (TTRPGs, video games, interactive fiction)
- Screenplays of movies/TV shows
- Audio dramas or fiction podcasts
Please note that at this stage we cannot accept WIPs or unpublished work; your writing should be widely available for people to access (via traditional publishing, small presses, short fiction markets, independent/self publishing, podcasts, streaming services, DVDs, TTRPG or video game platforms, etc). Bonus points if your project is speculative in some way.
Your playlist
The music for your episode should be compiled in a shareable playlist to include in your guest intake form and in the show notes. If you want to share an embeddable playlist (eg. on Spotify, YouTube, Tidal etc) that is perfectly fine; you can also just put a list of songs on a document, and we’ll do the embedding via Spotify or similar.
Note: the idea is to give our listeners a tangible sense of the music that helped you write your story, but we understand that not everyone works in the same way. If you don’t have a particular playlist for your project, but work with music in a more general way in your process, please consider making a sample list of songs, artists, or genres that you use regularly and that might have featured in the making of your project at some point; and if you aren’t sure what that could look like, get in touch!
Tech requirements
- We record remotely via Squadcast, which only needs an up to date Internet browser to work (like Chrome, Safari, or Firefox), and a good quality Internet connection.
- Ideally you have an external microphone (like a USB or XLR mic), and a webcam you can use to connect to the call. If you don’t, your laptop mic/webcam will probably be fine—just let us know in the form below.
- If possible, please wear wired headphones as well, to minimise any echoes during the call. If that’s not possible, please avoid Bluetooth headphones as they can cause audio recording issues.
If all of that sounds good, please fill out the form below! And for any questions, shoot us a message here.
